Micah Nelson [ aka PårticleKid ] comes from a lineage of musical and cultural pioneers, growing up touring with his father Willie Nelson and his brother Lukas Nelson, he has always been surrounded with vibrant and authentic creative spirits. Both a talented visual artist and iconoclastic musician, he has performed on shows like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and at events like SXSW, FarmAid, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Neil Young’s Bridge-School Benefit. He has showcased his artwork and music in countless other venues, spanning the creative spectrum, from his involvement in the psych-punk band Insects vs. Robots, to idiosyncratic Charango performance, to cymatic visualizations of dancing water molecules.
Micah’s new EP, Shapes, is a personal series of songs written and recorded in his mobile solar-powered a/v laboratory / van, aptly named ‘Vincent Van-Gogh.’ His playful and deeply moving approach to song-writing is embodied in seven songs, equal parts hyper-textural ventures through inner-dimensions and somber lo-fi lullabies. Shapes represents Micah’s first professional release under his pseudonym ParticleKid.
The Shapes EP will be released August 28th 2012 on Brainfeeder artist Strangeloop’s burgeoning a/v label TeachingMachine. It will be available on iTunes, Tape, and a limited run of 12-inch Numbered Vinyls with special editions available with signed prints of Nelson's artwork.
